Cadet Prayer
"Lord, I often wonder why I am doing what I am doing. Early morning runs, weekend field exercises, uniforms that don't protect against the bitter January cold... No one else has these rules! What does all of this mean? Parents who are proud, friends who challenge me to think about the moral issues, an opportunity for an education, a call to serve. Yes, Lord... I believe you are calling me to serve. I believe that your guidance and spirit have brought me to this point in my life. As I face each day, and look ahead to commissioning and life as an officer, I call upon you for continued guidance as I strive to do your will. Help me to remember I am a Christian first before all else, that I may honor your name in my bearing, my language, and my lifestyle. Grant me courage to honor my convictions, the strength to lead, and the humility to follow. May I be just in command, compassionate in counsel, and trustworthy in word and performance. Allow me wisdom in decision-making, and patience to let myself grow through success and failure. Make me choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong, and never to be content with a half-truth when the whole can be won. Loving God, I trust in your mercy and your grace. Be near me as I continue my journey, that I may remain ever close to you in the challenge to come. Amen." - footprints of Chad, 12:33 AM
