Cats

Cats are funny creaters. All they do is sleep, eat, play and then do it all over again. Some cats hunt and roam around but not my cat. He is scared of absolutely everything. I now know where the term "scardy cat" came from. He does some funny things sometimes though. He goes crazy and starts running around the house like some physco, jumping all over the furniture and attacking anything in his path for about 2 seconds before he bolts. During these fits he likes to climb my door jams. He has started scratching off the paint in several different areas. The crazy thing is that some of the scratch marks are over 60 inches high! That is over 5 feet! Another funny thing he does is chase flys and other little bugs that buzz around. The funny part is... he can actually catch them out of mid air. I was watching him one day when he just stopped... sat real still while the fly buzzed around him... he followed it with his eyes and his tail was twitching... then all the sudden... BAM!!! his two front paws come up and snatch it right out of the air and bring it to the ground where he procedes to slowing move his paws away while he sniffs at it then eats it. I thought I was going to die laughing! I hope I can catch that act on video one of these days...

On a sad note... my family's cat... Tiger... who had been around for 19 years passed away recently. He was just getting so old he could barely get around even to go to the bathroom. He was kind of a crazy cat in his younger years as well. It's a little weird because I had just turned 6 when we got him along with two others... and I turn 25 next week. I don't really have to many memories at home with out that cat being around. He was actually my brother's cat. My cat T.C. died when I was high school do to injuries suffered after being attacked by a bobcat. Anyway... enough sad stories for one day. I have Harley now... :)

quote

"If you examined a hundred people who had lost their faith in Christianity, I wonder how many of them would turn out to have been reasoned out of it by honest argument? Do not most people simply drift away?" (C.S. Lewis)

Salzburg, Kaiserslauten, Munich, London, Oxford, Atlanta, Kansas City...

just to name a few of the places I have been in the last two weeks. Man have I been on the go. In the last two weeks I have traveled over 12,000 miles by air, train, bus and car. The majority of which was by air on the 8.5 hour trip to Atlanta from London.

Salzburg was quite an adventure! I stayed in a hostel on the outskirts of town. This hostel was a little different because it was a camp site. I slept in a tent. Which was just fine with me. They had comfortable cots in the tents and clean bathrooms with hot showers. What else does a guy need? I met some neat guys in my hostel and had a really good time. I only ate one meal all by myself the entire 4 days I was in Salzburg. I went on the Eagle's Nest Tour which was pretty amazing. It was a little bit weird going to a place where Hitler used to hang out with Mussolini. It was well worth it to take the tour though. There is so much to do in Salzburg it was hard to fit it all in in the four days I was there. It rained the entire first day which was a bit of a bummer but the rest of the time it was beautiful so that more than made up for it.

I left Salzburg by train to go to Ramstein, Air Force Base in Germany. I had a short stop in Munich and then on to Kaiserslauten... that is where Ramstein, AFB is. Anyway, I was there for a conference that had to do with stuff I do at work... and I don't want to bore you all with that. So I came back to England for 3 days after being in Germany and then it was off to Kansas City for Adams wedding! I got in late Tuesday and my Mom came in Wednesday and stayed until Friday with me and Jennifer. It was so nice to get to spend some time with the people I love most in this world. Just wish it could have been longer.

The wedding was tons of fun! It was good to see everyone whom I haven't seen in a year or more. Not only that, two of my very good friends from college got married. Very special day for them as well as for me.

During the wedding, when the pastor asked for the ring, the best man felt all around in his pockets and finally pulled out a toy hammer... he looked at me and I felt my pockets and pulled out a toy set of pliars... i looked at the guy next to me and he pulled out a rubber ducky... the last guy felt all of his pockets and finally pulled out the ring and passed it up to the pastor... that got a pretty good laugh out of the folks in attendance as well as the bride and groom.

I also got to meet Jennifer's little sister this weekend who is pretty cool and lots of fun. She got baptized on Sunday morning at First Family Church. Just another bonus of being in KC over the weekend. I also got over 10,000 Delta SkyMiles... only 13,000 more and i'll have a free trip to Hawaii! :)

It's back to work for me though... which I am not much looking forward too... but hey... my brother will be here on the 6th of July so that is something to look forward to!
