World Photo Day

This guy wants to capture the world's people in snapshots on June 1st of this year. I am not sure how he's going to do it because it is going to take millions of pictures to capture the diversity of this planets people. If things go as planned I'll be in a plane over the Atlantic coming back from my wedding for a good portion of the day June 1st of this year. The wedding will go as planned... it's just a matter of getting the ticket. If your a shutterbug you may want to check this out... World Photo Day.

The Bloggies

Maybe there should be something called the Christian Weblog Awards since they have the Dove Awards for Christian music... or not... Anyway, the 2005 Weblog Awards are out there and I am quite sure if you read more than one blog a day you didn't hear about it first on my site. :)

Photo Friday

I have decided to start participating in photo friday if I have an appropriate picture for the category of the week... i noticed this weeks category was youth and I was going through my pics and I liked this one ... so below is my friend Rachel having fun in Wal-Mart at 2:00 a.m. in the morning in the spring of 2002. She is 22 in this picture... but I am sure when I am 60 I will say it was taken in our youth...

Footprints

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking
along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes
from his life. For each scene
he noticed two sets of footprints
in the sand, one belonging to him,
and the other belonging to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life
flashed before him, he looked
back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the
path of his life there was only one set
of footprints. He noticed that it
happened at the very lowest and
saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it.
"LORD, you said that once I decided
to follow You, You'd walk with me
all the way. But I have noticed that
during the most troublesome times in
my life, there is only one set of
footprints. I don't understand why,
when I needed you most, you would leave me."

The LORD replied "My son. My precious
child, I love you and would never leave
you. During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

- Author Unknown ???

Many different people have claimed to be the author of the Footprints poem, however, two of them, who seem to be the most frequently named candidates, are Margaret Fishback Powers and Mary Stevenson. Margaret Powers convinced Hallmark but there is a lot of support for Mary Stevenson out there if you look around a bit. I found this website talking about the issue if your interested. It is really quite interesting.

The reason I even bring it up is because I like this poem and, if you haven't guessed it already, it was the original inspiration for the name of this site...

Super Bowl

Ok... I am kinda slow but:

GO EAGLES!!

My cousin is the punter which is pretty cool. I think my aunt and uncle are going to go... they better go... it may very well be their one and only chance to see their son play in a Super Bowl. I'd be cheering for the Eagles even if he didn't play for them... I don't like the Patriots. To many reasons to explain it all here... But I am a Chicago Bears fan at heart... we've kind of had dry spell as of late.

Apparently some people have been really offended by this... I just think it is funny.

In the States...

I have been in the states now since the 8th... it's been fun... I have eaten at several of my favorite restuarants and gotten used to driving on the right side of the road again and now it's time to go back already. I have had a great weekend with Jennifer... we got a lot of stuff accomplished with the wedding plans. Sunday was spent with friends... some from High School, some from college... it was good to get everyone together.

I have really enjoyed living in the UK but each time I come back to the states it makes me realize that the UK is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there for longer than I am going too.

Well... I am flying back tomorrow and it's back to work... not looking forward to that.

USA Here I Come!

I am leaving for the states in a few hours and I am quite excited. Not so much for the informational seminar I am going to but next Friday I get to see Jen! Woohoo!

Here I am at 1:30 a.m. and I have barely started to pack for a two week trip that I leave for in 2.5 hours. Do other people always stay up the night before a long trip? I do so I can sleep on the plane... makes it go by faster. Anyway... I am off to OZ... well St. Louis first then OZ. :)

Oh... the picture below... that is the American Cemetery in Normandy.

Much Needed Update

Yeah… so I never got around to posting anything about those five things I said I would. In fact I have pretty much not updated this site in 2 months. Only got one email asking if I was still alive, so I am guessing my reading audience isn’t that big. My friend Laura sent me an email today and told me she had a blog and that kinda prompted me to update mine.

Well… let’s see… to update everyone… my parents were here for two weeks over Thanksgiving and we did lots of traveling… London, Oxford, France… we went to Normandy Beach and Omaha Beach which are really awesome and I am looking forward to going back. I moved to a new work center. I had a week off for Christmas, which was nice… I am leaving for the states this weekend to go to a Seminar at Scott AFB and then take some time to go see Jen. I can’t wait to see her!

In case you didn’t know… Jen will be finishing up her Masters in Social Work in May and we will be getting married the next weekend and she will be moving to England right after that. We will be in England for 18 months after she leaves… that means I won’t be back in the states until Oct of ’06. I am hoping it will be somewhere out West when we do come back but I won’t find that out until a few months before we leave to come back. So there you have it… my latest update… I’ll start posting more often I promise… so come back soon!
